How much do dinners cost?

Because important details such the participating chef, format, ingredients, venue, etc. change for each dinner there is no set cost per dinner. The cost of a particular dinner and what is included in that cost is posted on the Upcoming Dinner page when a dinner is officially announced.

I want you to do a dinner in my town. How can I get you to come here?

I would love to do a Public Domain Dinner in every city in the US. Because the dinners rely on the collaboration of a chef, or other culinary artisan, in each town who can connect me with ingredients, venues, etc., I need to have a lead in your town to pull a dinner off. Do you have any good leads or can you put me in touch with someone who does? Contact me and let’s start planning.

Why don’t you publish the menu before your dinners?

There are two answers to this. The first, and most important, is because Public Domain Dinners are about challenging yourself and trusting the chef to prepare something that will be delicious. The mystery is part of the fun. The second is that because the collaborator and I base the menus for every dinner on the freshest local ingredients, many times we are not sure exactly what we will have access to until a few days before the dinner.

How many seats are available at your dinners?

Public Domain Dinners are intimate gatherings where the collaborating chef and I explain our motivations behind each course and beverage pairing during service. This is much easier with a smaller crowd. For this reason I try to keep the dinners to under fifty people so they don’t lose the intimacy that makes them so special. After all, who wouldn’t rather see their favorite band at a small club than at a massive amphitheater?

How can I find out when and where the next dinner is happening?

The best way to stay up to date on the upcoming dinner announcements is to join the Public Domain e-mail list and follow me on Facebook and Twitter. I post a lot of information on Facebook and Twitter before it makes it onto the site or the email list simply because it is so fast and easy to update those networks. However, I make all formal dinner announcements via the E-mail list so be sure to sign up so you get those announcements and more. Finally, you can also subscribe to my RSS feed and it will alert you when I post a new event on this website.

What if something comes up and I cannot make it to a dinner that I purchased tickets to?

Public Domain can refund money for ticket purchases up to 24 hours before the event. Unfortunately cancellations within 24 hours of the event cannot be refunded.
